Andy and Marie Wragg, Jack and Annie Leafe 7th April 2024

Our friend and neighbour when Jay, as we knew her, lived in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. We will remember her for her wonderful creativity as an artist, poet and dancer (she loved to Disco dance and we know she did Ballet in her younger years). She would often pop round for tea and cake, as my Mum, Annie (Jay called her 'Leafey') was always baking and usually had something to offer from her cake tins. She was an inspiration to me, as I grew up, encouraging Jeremy and I to take part in competitions set by our local newspaper. I can recall her studying in the garden, surrounded by her menagerie of animals; geese, ducks, a chicken or two and, of course, her cats. My parents, Annie and Jack, loved animals too and were happy for them to wander into our garden in which Dad would put out a paddling pool for them to bathe, and splash around in. I recall trips to Jeremy's school, Wellow House Boarding School, which had a comforting smell of polished wood floors, to me it was like a mini Hogwarts. I remember apple bobbing at a Halloween party, the impossibility of taking a bite from an apple that was floating in water, the outcome of which was, I remember, getting very wet! Jay always had a cheery outlook on life, she will remain an inspiration to us all. Jay, you will be very much missed. Love Andy and Marie Wragg, Jack and Annie Leafe xxx
